Current projects
The 1936 North American Heatwave
The 1936 North American Heatwave is a scorching ensemble bringing new meaning to the hot jazz tradition.
Drawing inspiration from legendary Django Reinhardt and blending seamlessly with Americana and roots traditions, the acoustic trio weaves intricate melodies with hot jazz’s fiery passion.
A love letter to music history, Heatwave is sure to get everyone loosening their collars and asking for more ice as they bring their hot jazz to a club near you.
The trio: Neil Eckstein, guitar;
Andrew Poling, upright bass;
and Colt Wilson, guitar
The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs
This band began about 1967, in the context of the Queen City Balladeers, a folk music club which continues to present a weekly coffeehouse and a series of outdoor concerts in Eden Park.
The Cincinnati Dancing Pigs’ regular bi-monthly gig is at Arnold's in downtown Cincinnati. They have performed in every Jug Band Jubilee in Louisville since the inception of the festival, and were inducted into the Jug Band Hall of Fame in 2014.
Session Guitarist
Colt’s background spans rock ‘n’ roll, bluegrass, classical, and acoustic and electric jazz.
Colton began playing music at age 6 and hasn’t looked back since. Starting with piano and soon after picking up a guitar, he began to study the styles of classic rock legends, moving on to bluegrass such as Doc Watson, and is most at home these days with the jazz or Django Reinhardt or Ted Green. He started performing professionally and writing songs at age 13 and has been performing ever since.
With a strong focus on interpretation and methodological approach, Colt is a proficient soloist and lead guitarist.
